What makes Jan Term 180 the trip of a lifetime

Besides the incredible people that we are already meeting, there are a lot of reasons why this trip could be called the trip of a lifetime.

  1. We are connecting with organizations like Daraja Academy, The Simama ProjectYouth Hub, the Twala Maasai Cultural Center, PRI-PermacultureSaint Mary's Nyeri, Hope and Homes Recreation Center, and others.
  2. We already had a 16 hour lay-over in Amsterdam with visits to the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum.
  3. Dinner with NGO teams at the Tandala Birding Resort
  4. Visit to the Twala Maasai Cultural Center that will include a baboon walk and an overnight visit
  5. Visit to the Permaculture Research Center, Nanyuki Town, and an Animal Orphanage that hosts an endangered species, the bongo.
  6. A 4 day safari trip that includes visits to two different conservancies
  7. Conservation work with recycling water bottles in interesting ways
  8. A visit to Saint Mary's Nyeri, one of the highest achieving schools in Kenya
  9. A visit to the burial place of Sir Baden Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts
  10. Visit Paxtu Hotel for treats
  11. Meal at the Trout Restaurant, which is a trout farm with the restaurant located in a series of trees
  12. And it seems that there is always another opportunity in the Nanyuki area to add to the list of places to go, people to see, and international collaborations to make.
Personally, it's also another opportunity to travel and teach alongside my mother, which is an incredible gift in my life.
I think that makes this trip qualify as the trip of a lifetime.
