Resolution check and setting intentions for the future

In 2017, I set as intentions the following:  resolutions: work less and experience more; be present while working on family future.”

In 2018, my partner and I developed resolutions together:

“1.  do more physical activity together, like walking, swimming, kayaking
2.  spend less money on Amazon
3.  settle on sabbatical plans and start that journey
4.  figure out parenting together
5.  save more money for retirement (which I would like to be sooner rather than later)
6.  be more present and involved with my family and friends”

I can happily say that we accomplished all of those resolutions, except for lessening our spending on Amazon.  With pregnancy and baby, we capitulated to the ease of the machine and door to door delivery.  Now that we are in Europe for 4 months we are both committed to taking on that resolution again.

For 2019, the resolutions are:

  1. reach B1 fluency in Italian and complete my part of the Italian citizenship process;
  2. continue to do more physical activity together, like walking, swimming, kayaking;
  3. dedicate more time to reading and writing and less to social media (with one social media fast weekend a month);
  4. save more money for retirement;
  5. continue to be more present and involved with family and friends;
  6. spend less money on Amazon and shift that money to retirement;
  7. complete the #52essaysproject for 2019 again.  That really pushed my writing in 2017;
  8. write a poem a day this year to push my writing as a poet as well;
  9. read at least one book for work and one book for pleasure each month;
  10. search for more happiness in work;
  11. do things that make me giggle at least once a day.
In short:
  • learn,
  • be well,
  • save more,
  • live and love,
  • write and read,
  • work with joy,
  • laugh.
What about you?  What are your resolutions?
